Not bad pants super comfortable and warm but not really as advertised nothing on them is rubberized and the suspenders dont fit and lack the connecting piece in the back for said suspenders but other than that cant really complain but the suspenders not fitting was a big let down

The length of the pants are good. The suspenders are too short to be used by me (5’11”). Waist size is incorrect so add 2 to your waist size (ex: your normal pants are size 36 waist, get 38 waist)

They came as described, had normal wear on the inseam and the knee patches but overall I'm happy

I love the look and feel of these pants, but they run quite small and the suspenders are incredible short. One of the buttons fell right off as soon as i put them on the suspenders are ripped. Would recommend, but be weary.

These are issued but in really good condition. Plenty of life in them to be the coolest kid on the block.

AP has blessed me with the finest drip on God’s green earth. The first pair I received were too short and too slim and in borderline Grade 2 condition. I returned them for an even bigger boy size and was graced with a pair in practically perfect condition. The vinyl on the knees is super weird, it’s got straps and buttons everywhere, but damn does it go hard. The only downside I can find is that the shoulder straps have no elastic and are probably too short for you despite the legs being too long. You’ll just have to wear them high waisted like your art-hoe gf. 11/10 would recommend

In my desperation to get a pair of these I went with a pair a couple of sizes bigger. Of course they don't fit on me but my collection is done, will buy again when my size is available.
To note, they are unfortunately more faded(whiter?) then my Alpenflage jacket but to be expected as they are issued. If you treat them as over pants and wear sweatpants under them, they are prefect. Only downside is that they are always out of stock in my size. overwise great pants.

What can I say, its such a cool piece. Mine took a bit of a beating by the Swiss boys, but still great and all the features are functional. Got a 72 length and still a bit short on the ankles. Works as high vis pants too. Anyway, it'sperfect !

Straps are pretty small, so I'm going to need to find a way to extend them, but other than that, they are in great condition.

Review: Issued TAZ 57 Alpenflage Field Pants w/ Suspenders
Condition & Authenticity
These pants are issued, so you’ll likely see signs of previous use—fading, stain marks, or minor wear at stress points. However, if well preserved, the construction and original components (suspenders, hardware, lining) will still be solid. Authenticity should be confirmed via stamps, date codes, and consistent materials.
Design & Camouflage Pattern
The TAZ 57 (Tarnanzug 1957) “Alpenflage” camo pattern is visually striking—light background spots with reeds and splotches. It’s highly effective in alpine/wooded terrain, especially in mixed forest and high-elevation areas. The design hails from mid-20th-century Austrian military gear and retains a unique heritage look.
Functionality & Features
Suspenders built in — helps distribute the weight and keeps the pants from sliding down, especially helpful when carrying gear in cold weather layers.
Multiple cargo pockets — provides good storage for field items, maps, tools, etc.
Reinforcements at knees and seat (depending on variant) — for durability in rugged environments.
Adjustable waist tabs — so it can fit better over base layers or with belts.
However, some trade-offs: the pants may run somewhat bulky when wearing thick underlayers, and the suspenders’ straps could be thin for heavy loads. Also, older issue hardware (snap buttons or zippers) may show corrosion or looseness.
Comfort & Wearability
In milder weather, the pants are comfortable and allow good mobility. The suspenders mean less pressure on the waist. In colder conditions, layering under them works but can bulk up the fit. For hotter weather, they may feel a bit heavy unless you roll cuffs or ventilate. The fabric is often a sturdy blend, which handles rough use but may lack modern breathability.
Value & Collectibility
Issued TAZ 57 Alpenflage trousers with suspenders are sought after by surplus collectors and military gear enthusiasts. Their collectible value is bolstered by original hardware, minimal alterations, and clear issue stamps. As field gear, they offer good utility, though they won’t compete with modern performance fabrics. Given current market prices for vintage alpine camo gear, they represent a respectable balance of style, function, and history.
Overall Assessment
If you can find a well-preserved pair with intact suspenders, the TAZ 57 Alpen Flage field pants are a solid piece for collectors, reenactors, or anyone wanting rugged alpine-styled field gear. They show their age in comfort and weight compared to modern gear, but their classic pattern and vintage character still make them worthwhile.

These pants fit a little small. I wear Daluth jeans in size 38 and these pants were US size 40. Besides that, i like them. Definitely worth buying.
