Once I got it I put it on immediately I love that its actually tall because most 3x is just big and not really that tall one thing i will say about it though is its more focused on the tall aspect and not big, it fits well but its stitched and I also can feel the stitching rub against my arms

Let me say, I love this woobie hoodie. AP hit it out of the park, especially with this Sumpftarn pattern. Everything is solid, including the metal aglets on the drawstrings for the hood. Already had a chance to get rained on and it is indeed very water resistant and quick drying. Great product!

The AP Woobie Hoodie in Irish DPM is built for serious warmth and everyday wear. Inspired by military surplus and made for real-life use, it’s lightweight, wind-resistant, and incredibly comfortable. The Irish DPM camo is a rare pattern that brings rugged character without being flashy. Whether you’re in the woods or just walking to the corner store, this hoodie keeps you warm and looking sharp. It packs down small, dries quickly, and holds heat even when it’s cold and wet out. The cut is roomy but not baggy, perfect for layering or throwing on over a t-shirt. If you’ve never owned a woobie before, this is the one that changes your mind.

🇩🇪 Flecktarn woobie hoodies are back in stock! Sizes smal thru XXL. If you need a cozy new jacket for the upcoming chilly weather, grab one! DWR treated for water resistance! The Bundeswehr is replacing its longtime Flecktarn camouflage pattern with a new design called Multitarn to better suit modern operational demands across varied environments. Multitarn is a six‑color “multi‑terrain” pattern (versus Flecktarn’s more limited five‑color forest‑oriented scheme) that aims to offer effective concealment not just in woodland but also in transitional, urban, and mixed terrain settings. Also, until now Multitarn was mostly used by special forces—adopting it broadly helps avoid highlighting those units by their distinct uniform. The transition is planned to begin in 2026 and be completed by 2028–29.

🇺🇸 Desert Night Camo? Yeah, we got it. Woobie hoodies in DNC are available now but selling fast. Don’t miss ‘em. Desert Night Camouflage was issued during the First Gulf War with the intent to counter Soviet-made generation one night vision devices in use by Iraqi troops at the time. Of course, this wasn’t as effective as desired and the pattern was quickly phased out after the Gulf War.

Developed for Ireland’s dense woodlands and rain soaked terrain, Irish DPM became the signature camouflage of the Irish Defence Forces in the late twentieth century. Produced strictly for official issue and rarely seen outside military service, it has remained one of the most uncommon and tightly controlled camouflage patterns in the world. With its deep greens, rich browns, and bold black brushstrokes, it was designed to vanish into hedgerows and forests while becoming an unmistakable symbol of Irish military identity. Distinct, scarce, and steeped in history, Irish DPM is a pattern few have ever owned and even fewer have ever worn.

If you’ve ever owned a woobie (poncho liner) you already know the deal: it’s the one piece of gear everybody “borrows” and never wants to give back. We took that same comfort and turned it into a hoodie you can wear every day. The AP Woobie Hoodie is built for that perfect in-between weather where a normal hoodie isn’t enough, but a heavy jacket is too much. Lightweight warmth, easy layering, and that soft, broken-in feel that makes you reach for it first. This is the hoodie for cold mornings, windy nights, bonfires, camping trips, road trips, early dog walks, running errands, work days in the shop, range days, tailgates, and couch days. Throw it over a tee, layer it under a shell, keep it in the truck, or live in it all season. If you want the woobie vibe without carrying a blanket around, this is the move. The pattern people now call “six-color desert” or “chocolate chip” camo didn’t appear out of nowhere in 1990—it was the end result of a long, very unglamorous problem the U.S. military kept running into: when you send troops to hot, sandy places, olive drab and woodland camouflage stick out like a sore thumb. The first serious U.S. attempt at desert camouflage came in the early 1960s, when the Army’s Engineer Research and Development Laboratories (ERDL) experimented with desert patterns alongside the better-known jungle pattern. Those early trials didn’t turn into a standard issue uniform, partly because the U.S. wasn’t committed to fighting large-scale wars in deserts at the time, and partly because logistics always wins—keeping another family of uniforms stocked worldwide is expensive. Fast forward to the 1970s and the Cold War “what if” planning for the Middle East. The Marine Corps in particular spent years thinking about how to fight in arid terrain and how to keep gear from baking people alive. Out of that came a desert pattern built around a light tan base with broad brown patches and a mix of smaller accent shapes. The famous “chips” were never meant to be cute; those little dark flecks were intended to mimic the way rocky desert ground looks at a distance—pebbles, shadows, scrub, and broken texture. The official idea was to make a pattern that worked in varied desert terrain, not just smooth sand dunes. By the early 1980s, the U.S. started issuing the six-color desert pattern for operations in arid regions. It shows up in the background of deployments and training long before most people ever noticed it: exercises, advisory missions, and contingency forces that needed to be ready for “hot weather” environments. It wasn’t only uniforms, either. The pattern was printed on helmet covers, pack covers, shelter halves, and other gear—because the minute you put a solid green pack on a tan uniform, you’re back to being a moving target. Then came the moment that cemented its reputation: Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm (1990–1991). Six-color desert was everywhere—on Marines, Army units, aircrew, and a lot of support personnel. It became one of the visual signatures of that war, right alongside PASGT helmets, ALICE gear, and the early MOPP suit looks. But it also got a very practical critique from the people wearing it: in the Arabian Peninsula, especially in flatter “open sand” areas, six-color could read too dark and too busy. Those blackish “chips” that helped in rocky terrain could create contrast that wasn’t always your friend. That complaint—plus the fact that the U.S. was standardizing uniforms across services—helped push the next step. In the early 1990s the military began transitioning to the simpler three-color desert pattern (DCU), which had fewer colors and larger, smoother shapes. It was lighter overall and tended to blend better in the specific tan, dusty environments U.S. forces were spending time in after Desert Storm. Six-color didn’t vanish overnight, though. It lingered for years in storage, training use, and odd corners of supply, and it kept showing up on gear long after units started switching uniforms. Today, six-color desert sits in that sweet spot between “historically important” and “instantly recognizable.” It’s tied to a specific era: late Cold War prep, the Gulf War, and the early ‘90s transition period. It was worn by U.S. forces across the board—especially the Marine Corps and Army during Desert Storm—and it left enough of an imprint that people still refer to it by nickname decades later. If you want to understand it, the simplest way is this: it was designed for a desert that’s more than just sand, became famous in a desert war dominated by sand, and was replaced by a pattern that accepted that reality.

A poncho liner that is a hoodie! Woodland is sold out, but we have many other color ways! The AP Hoodie Woobie takes inspiration from the legendary USGI poncho liner, affectionately called the woobie by generations of American service members. First issued during the Vietnam War, the woobie became more than just gear. Soldiers used it for warmth, comfort, and survival in the harshest conditions. Over time, it earned its place as the most beloved piece of kit in the military. We’ve reimagined that legacy into a modern everyday essential: lightweight warmth, rugged durability, and unmatched comfort, now in hoodie form.

We have Woobie hoodies in stock, different camouflage patterns, and solid colors! Nothing better than a USGI poncho liner inspired hoodie! The Woobie hoodie! Be on the lookout for up and coming camouflage and solid colors. USGI PONCHO liners were first issued during the Vietnam War, the USGI poncho liner, affectionately called the woobie, was a simple yet ingenious piece of gear that became one of the most beloved items ever fielded by American troops. Designed as a lightweight, quick drying nylon blanket with polyester fill, it attached to the standard poncho to create a warm, weather resistant cocoon in the jungle’s damp conditions. Over time, soldiers discovered it could serve as a blanket, sleeping bag, jacket liner, or even a source of comfort in the chaos of deployment. Its nickname’s origin is uncertain; some say it came from “would be cold without it,” others from the child’s blanket in Mr. Mom, but the sentiment is the same: the woobie is a rare blend of practicality and emotional attachment. Decades later, it endures not just as military surplus but as a cultural icon, repurposed into hoodies, blankets, and gear that carry the same warmth, utility, and nostalgia that made the original so legendary.

The Bundesgrenzschutz (BGS), established in 1951 as West Germany's federal border guard, introduced the Sumpftarn camouflage pattern in 1952. This pattern evolved through three main variants between 1952 and 1976, each featuring a combination of beige-gray, red-brown, and greenish-gray shapes overlaid with thin, dark green "rain" lines. The BGS phased out Sumpftarn-patterned items by 1976, transitioning to uniforms more closely resembling standard police attire. However, specialized units like the Grenzschutzgruppe 9 (GSG 9) continued to use Sumpftarn helmet covers until around 2000.
