Has some rust on a couple of the rivets, which is disappointing for an otherwise new helmet. Other than that, this is a nice helmet, its fairly comfortable and will fit perfectly into my collection.

🪖 In 1936, the Soviet Union introduced the SSh-36, a steel combat helmet with a bold crest running over the top like a mohawk. It was designed to deflect cavalry saber blows, even though sabers were mostly obsolete by then. As the first standard-issue helmet for the Red Army, it saw action in the Spanish Civil War, the Winter War with Finland, and the early battles of World War II. Troops wore it during the clashes with Japan at Khalkhin Gol in 1939, earning it the nickname “Khalkhin Gol helmet.” Though it was replaced by the simpler SSh-40 around 1941, the SSh-36 stood out in Soviet propaganda posters and wartime films thanks to its unique look. Today, it’s a rare and sought-after collector’s item, remembered as one of the most distinctive helmets of the 20th century.
