I bought this for my parents for Christmas as they are doomsday preppers, and wanted a way to make clean drinking water should armageddon happen. They loved it! I think this would also make a great gift for people who like to go camping or backpacking (aka normal people who aren't on the edge of their seat for WWIII)

This is just what you need if the going gets tough. Will meet the needs of large groups of people in times of need. Great also for outings and camping. You don't need to haul a lot of water with you if water can be found where your headed.

We love this filter! So much so that, when our first one started to slow down after years of use, we purchased another for our backcountry trips. It filters water at a quick rate, the taste is clean. The only drawback is portability- it would be handy if you could purchase a carrying case for protection. It has to be strapped to the outside of a pack and is awkward to transport and risks getting broken. Otherwise, we love this filter!

With all the microplastics and chemicals that don't get filtered out of regular tap water, I plan to use the home pitcher daily and also got the family purifier for camping. PLUS if ever something really awful happens where we have viruses in our water system, I know we can still drink water safely!

I tried it out, appears to work fine. Main caveat is the hose -- it seems way too long, requiring you to lift the dirty water 5-6 feet up. This also increases the risk of spillage contaminating the target container. Maybe the solution is to hang the bucket lower and to the side, but this is not reflected in the manual. The instructions are mostly clear and detailed, but as written, the daily cleaning section ends with the bucket full of water, which feels like an oversight. The purification specs are great and I'm glad to have it, but I worry that the inconvenience factor will prevent it from being used to best effect.

I bought my Lifestraw because I want to be able to have fresh water no matter what. It is part of being ready for crisis situations so I have not used it but it looks great and gives me great peace of mind. I intend on buying the larger one eventually but I did not want to wait till I could afford it to start being prepared so this was a great option. I am glad this is available and have heard several good reviews and that is convincing enough for me.
