So I’ve just run thru several of my knives in my commercial kitchen. The new set up for the guide is great. Though could still be modified to do the cheap knives I let my employees use. You know the white handled ones from Sam’s Club. The trigger needs a lock. One thing I like doing especially with my shun knives I want the grind on both sides going in the same direction so maybe beveling the guide on the backside close to the motor would help. Overall I really like it those are some of my suggestions.

All in all it does a good job sharpening my kitchen knives. The only thing i don't like is that one side of the guide keeps a perfect edge but when you switch sides because of the rotation of the belt the blade lets pulled into the belt and the angle is not the same on both sides. Still I like using it and the knives will cut

Works great and thank you for excellent customer service. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is my concern that the new roller looks just like the old one that broke. It’s a plastic guide pressed on a metal roller bearing. I hope this one lasts longer than the old one I hated to throw out the old unit just because of this small part.

My old which I had for years some how got a belt stuck and ruined the drive pulley. I was told that it was not repairable and was given the option of buying a new one with a good discount. I ordered a new one and it was immediately sent to me. I only used it on the two different knives and it performed admirably. I have absolutely no complaints on the customer service or the machine.

This is a great light duty sharpener. I used the previous version for 10 years and upgraded to the Mk. 2 when it died. My minor quibble is with the level of detail in the manual. I have a specific need to sharpen at 45 degrees (planer blades) and while the Scissor guide does *appear* to be 45 degrees, it would be reassuring if the manual had stated this spec. I do feel this sharpener is adequate for my needs, which is DIY level tool maintenance, but having a bit more information would have been helpful.

Just used this on my new Henckels kitchen knives, it got them sharp but it put a lengthwise scratch on each of the wider knives. Damn!

This is my second Knife and Tool sharpener having bought version 1 about 6 years ago, which I loved. Wore the thing out I used it so much. Used the Mk.2 for the first time the other day and was “pleased as punch”. Some definite improvements over the former. My only disappointment is that it did not come with a cool carry scatchel, as the first one did. But don’t get me wrong, this is a fine product and when I wear it out I’ll buy another.

I used the sharpener three times and the plastic idler guide wheel broke and tool won’t work. Poor design and no replacement parts on website. Save your money.

I had an old handheld that was missing a guide. So I called the company and spoke with a very nice young lady who told me that the part was discontinued. She offered to send me the MK-2 at not only 40% off the retail price, but added free shipping. I agreed to her generous offer and I have used it to not only sharpened several of my carving knives but also some garden tool including the the string cutting blade on my weed whacker. I still had some old belts that worked with the new sharpener This product is a great product **********+

I had the first edition and could not find replacement parts for it, so I had to upgrade. It's is lighter, have a smoother feel to it and really like the new sharpening cassette.
