The sharpener is exceptional quality it gets most of my blades almost hair whittling Sharp, after using the leather strap, I run a blade over my denim strap I made but it gets in that much sharper, point being, completely unnecessary that's just my OCD, but yeah I don't get any knife even if it's completely damaged you can get it good as a new as long as you know what you're doing but for the most part since I've had this for a year it only had to use the rough edge a couple times to reprofile but otherwise I take my knife and run them on the medium grit and then the soft ceramic and they stay sharp a few swipes each, I had to get a nick, out of my Kershaw analyst last night so I had to grind it down flatten it out basically I ran it on the hard grit 10 passes each side already had an apex back then I went over to my whetstone ran it on that for a minute then the medium on that and then went back to the soft grit, and then soft ceramic until it got to perfection ring on the leather's dropped bunch ran out of the denim strap anyway not here we're doing Sharp as that's Overkill but to put it into perspective I can take a cigarette I can literally cut chunks out of the filter literally out of the fiberglass you can see where the cut was made and I can literally shave the stragglers, little pieces of fiber like a shave my arm in one pass if I wanted to like this thing works it's awesome! For the money I challenge, anyone to find something better especially being at Walmart it's 30 bucks worth it all day!

I first used one of these sharpeners in Utah when a Forest Service firefighter let me borrow his. I’m a helicopter mechanic. I was blown away at how quickly it sharpened and how perfect my edge was every time. Within the next couple weeks I found myself in Pinedale Wyoming and found one of these at a sporting goods shop so I bought it. That was 2018 and it cost $20. Now I know that prices have gone up in the last several years but for the cost of this to go up 125% over the original cost is too greedy. These are made in China.

Reasonably price and simple to use. A novice like me can put a sharp edge on with little effort. Only complaint is the magnet that holds the diamond plates on is weak on one side and the plate moves or falls off when sharpening

I give this Work Sharp Guided Field
Sharpener a 5 🥔🥔🥔🥔🥔 rating!!!!!
It helps keep my knives sharp, especially when I use them to slice up potatoes for dinner. I highly recommend this product!

Ottimo prodotto, ben concepito e ben fatto, provato subito dopo il suo arrivo affilando il mio multi tool che ora taglia di nuovo come un rasoio.

I absolutely LOVE this sharpener! I have never in my life been worth a damn at sharpening a knife and I’ve tried all kinds of fancy (and expensive) gadgets. I ran across this at our local Walmart and thought ok, it might be worth trying… now everyone at work asks me to sharpen their knives lol. It only takes a few minutes to get a good working edge and a few more to get an edge you can actually shave with. I love this and will never use another

Great sharpener. I've been looking at Work Sharpener for some time and decided to pull the trigger. So glad that I did. Thinking about getting the precision adjust elite knife sharpener

I have had one of these for ten years now and it is by far the best and easiest to use knife sharpener. It has the lowest learning curve thanks to the 20 degree guides. Once you have a done a few sharpenings, your hand and wrist locks into place and it is almost impossible to not get a good edge. Thank you Worksharp Tools

Excellent build quality, easy to use, and I really like that I can replace components once they're worn out.
What can you expect from a field sharpener that doesn't weigh a ton or isn't bulky? Will take practice to get used to holding it and getting faster with it, but definitely gets the job done. Not sure you could ask for more without it becoming gimmicky.

gonna start with some things i consider negatives.
it comes with pre-applied stropping compound. I would of liked to see the paste on the side and let me put it on myself. This would of allowed me to put the paste I normally use on right away instead of removing what came on it.
The magnets! As you pull the knife threw the diamond grit you can feel the magnetic field as you draw the blade. This feels odd and takes away from a smooth motion of drawing the knife.
The coarse ceramic honing. Ceramic is a difficult material to work with and I may of gotten a faulty grind but I have found absolutely no use for this portion of the ceramic. I have found that my edges have been tainted by this portion of the ceramic and i would not recommend using it .
Ok moving onto the good stuff.
This is in my pocket when I see my mother, she throws her knifes in the sink and they are always in bad shape when i see her. The coarse grit makes short work of most edge defects and provides a relatively clean edge to start from. I keep this in my kitchen to touch up my knifes after use, only needing the ceramic and the strop to maintain the edge. This is in my back pack in the bush, its nice to pull the metal diamond portions off and touch up an hatchet.
I have fancy belt sharpeners and I reach for this most often. I would recommend removing the compound that comes on the strop and sanding it on 2,000 grit sand paper. Then i would put on 20,000grit diamond stropping paste on it. stay away from the coarse ceramic (this could be bias, im not sure if mine has a defect) .
I am all around please with this sharpener, there is some skill involved in using it but the end product is all around surprising. Would recommend for anyone wanting a inexpensive tool that works.

The first thing I sharpened was a brand new kinda cheap hatchet. It took nothing at all to put a razor edge on it. This sharpener is very compact and user friendly.

Sharpener is very convenient and helpful for getting a good edge

I own a Ken Onion bench sharpener and a Guided Field Sharpener. Two of the best purchases I have ever made. The Field Sharpener is especially impressive to me. If you've ever field dressed a moose, you'd know how tough they are on knives. In under a minute, literally, I can re-sharpen and continue with the job. If you don't have one of these in your pocket or pack, you need to buy one now!

Serves all my needs for mindful maintaining of your outdoor knives and axes,, even honing of large curved blades like a khukuri.
For larger knives, you hold the knife stationary, establish your angle by eye and then move the sharpener away from the edge. I've been hand and eye sharpening and honing for over 50 years, carry a small ceramic rod hone with me EDC.
IF you HONE when the tool STARTS to get dull, you SHARPEN far less. Use only enough pressure to make the diamonds cut, let them do the work. The ceramics can be cleaned with a dab of Bar keepers Friend cleanser on a rag. wipe off residues and dry thouroghly.
Clean diamond surfaces with some dish soap , rinse, DRY completely by dabbing with a cloth and then blow dry with a hair dryer until the plates are no longer wet and slightly warm to the touch. This will help to prevent corrosion in the matrix surface that is bonded to the diamonds. To check if the plates need replacement, simply stroke very lightly on an old glass jar. If you see a scuff the diamonds are still cutting.
Every WS product I have bought has been excellent for its purpose. Thank you WS for helping me keep the memory and tradition of my time with my Grandfather teaching me to sharpen over 50 years ago alive

Without much experience, you'll have a sharp knife in just a couple minutes with this sharpener. I sharpened 5 knives in about 15 minutes.

I have several of these sharpeners. I keep 1 in my main sharpening kit, and I keep one in each of my edc tool kits. I hate dull knives. This keeps them sharp, great for touchups etc.

The field guide sharpener works very nicely. Still working on the other half of my collection of knives, pocket and kitchen. Have to remember "they will be sharp, don't cut yourself". Thank you for a great product. Haven't tried the fish hook sharpener yet.

Finally a filed knife sharpener that is easy to use and pretty much foolproof!

I have a few knife sharpening systems, but I often just go to this field sharpener as it works well and it's very quick and easy to use. I can get my knives very sharp with this and it doesn't take the time some sharpeners require. The best money I have spent on a sharpener as I use it more often than any other sharpening system I have tried. If I want a mirror finish then I will use one of my more elaborate sharpeners but for 80-90% of what I need this little gadget will get the job done and done well.
