About this product
Product description
Common Name: Monte Carlo
Tissue culture plants are grown in vitro from a state of the art laboratory specialized in propagating aquatic plants. They provide the best option for those who want to ensure that absolutely zero unwanted pests are introduced into the aquarium.
Micranthemum ‘Monte Carlo” is a low growing aquatic plant that originates from New Zealand.  It is a perfect foreground plant that if given sufficient lighting and nutrients can grow into a thick carpet of green foliage. The leaves are small and round with a beautiful bright green coloration that can nicely offset any neutral toned substrate. This plant is very similar to Hemianthus Callitrichoides (HC/Dwarf Baby Tears) but the leaves are larger and in our experience, its generally easier to grow. When hobbyist are having trouble growing HC, we recommend giving Monte Carlo a try.
High lighting and Co2 injection is necessary to keep this plant low growing.  Vertical growing thin stalks are an indication of lack of lighting while yellowing leaves can mean nutrition deficiency.  Thin leaves can also hint at a lack of Co2. This plant can grow quickly and require regular trimming when kept under proper conditions.
This plant can grow submerged or emersed in dry start aquariums and Wabi Kusa.  Because this plant is small with tiny roots, it can prove difficult to keep planted into the substrate. In this case, dry start can help by allowing time for the roots to anchor into the substrate before flooding the tank.
Remove tissue culture gel before planting. Simply wash the gel away or soak the plant in water and squeeze the gel off with your fingers.

What’s you’re go-to aquascaping tool? 👀 We like using the UNS Pinsettes during our planting process! However, when planting, we move the plant further in to alleviate the grip on the plants’ roots 🌱 This also allows the pinsettes to create a slot in the substrate for deeper planting, so our plants don’t float when we flood ✨ - #fyp #plantedtank #aquariumplants #fishkeeping

Tell us about your experience with growing plants emersed 🌱👇 We know that transitioning plants can get frustrating, especially when plants start dying off, melting, or drying up. However, with the help of a UNS Atomizer and regular misting throughout the day, you can set your plants up for success 🙌 #paludarium #emersedplants #aquaticplants #terrariumplants #aquaticplantcare

How hard is it for you to balance stones (1-10)? 🪨 We created a Christmas Tree in a UNS 30T by stacking flat pieces of Grey River Slate. To secure the scape, we added tissue paper and super glue between loose layers. To conceal the glue spots, smaller pieces of rocks and moss we’re added 👍 #fyp #fishkeeping #bettafish #aquascape #aquarium #terrarium
