Skin hydration is for more than just glowing skin: adequate hydration levels in the epidermis are crucial for overall skin health.

Your epidermis – the uppermost layer of your skin – is constantly generating new skin cells that rise through the layers and naturally fall off. This natural shedding of skin cells is called desquamation, and the process is modulated by certain enzymes in the skin. These enzymes require a certain level of hydration in order to work. That means if your skin lacks hydration, those enzymes can’t function properly, which means your dead skin cells start to build up – leading to dull skin, clogged pores, and flaking.

Hydration levels in the epidermis are managed by Natural Moisturizing Factors (NMFs), which are natural humectants your body produces to hold onto moisture. Aqua Factory features two of the most powerful NMFs, Urea and Sodium PCA. Both of these skin-identical ingredients can increase hydration levels within the skin, ensuring healthy shedding of dead skin cells.

Aqua Factory contains a total of 7 different humectants to get the maximum level of hydration into your skin. As water naturally evaporates out through your skin (a process known as transepidermal water loss), humectants act like a sponge to hold onto that water and keep it in the skin. In addition to the two NMFs, Urea and Sodium PCA, Aqua Factory also features Beta Glucan, Glycerin, Hyaluronic Acid, Panthenol, and Propylene Glycol.
