Everything is laid out in a way that’s easy to understand. I've been able to figure out how to sew multiple projects and fabrics.

I bought this a month ago. I like the machine but I was hoping Heavy Duty meant it would sew over the thick seam of jeans I have to shorten. After breaking a needle, I just finished sewing it by hand. Also, it would help very much to have the manual included. It’s much needed, but has been a hassle to try and get one online.

Bought the exact model my sister-in-law has I thought it was all metal like hers but it’s plastic. Bought the hard shell case to protect it but it’s just an empty shell with NO protection for the machine at all! It just flopped around! Had to use packaging from the shipping to keep machine stable in the case so what’s the point

So I bought this machine for $178, and got the confirmation email saying total= $178 and then my credit card was charged $210. I put in my customer service request weeks ago and have not heard back. Upon opening the machine, turns out the machine I got was USED!? There’s some sticky gunk on it that catches on the fabric and there were stuffs on the thread stopper. Why was I charged more than I was supposed to and then got a used machine? This is my first time shopping through singer and I would not recommend it. Go to a retailer that sells the machines 3rd party. This whole experience has been very frustrating. Nonetheless, I’ve used the machine two times anyways since I haven’t heard back and it seems to work well.

This is a great workhorse of a machine. I don’t need anything fancy, but I need heavy duty for some of the things that I do and this really fits the bill. you can always rely on singer to give you the best machine. I’ve only had the machine a little over a week and it’s already had an issue with the thread going around the bobbin. I was able to resolve it, but I don’t know how, This is the reason for only four stars.

Perfect stitch out of box. However, there is a very tight screw on face plate that will not untighten and the needle position doesnt work properly. Other than those issues I love the machine.

I am not a fancy sewer. I would say I am more of a crafter so I needed something that would run through layers of fabric etc . First time out I hemmed a pair of jeans. The machine went up and over the length hem fold with ease. I’m sold. I would have said 5 stars but I am having issues with the threader. It might be me but it worked great the first 5 times and now, not so much. The machine is perfect for what I need though and I would recommend it to a friend.

It worked well with one exception. The machine does not have a needle up/down button. The is not a show-stopper, except that it does not stop consistently in either the up or down position. Therefore, I constantly have to roll the the handwheel forward to pull the project from below the presser foot before cutting the thread. I would also prefer if the handle to raise the presser foot were turned 90 degrees to the right so it is easier to reach.

I love my singerI 4423. I am so happy with this sewing machine. I’ve had it for 4 months and I am pleased with this purchase. It’s definitely heavy duty. It’s not noisy and it can handle anything. I sew dog dresses and girls toddler dresses and this machine makes sewing a smooth experience. I’ve even sewn leather on this machine. I recommend the singer 4423.

When sending my needle down to pick up the bobbin thread, the bobbin thread gets caught on something and doesn't want to come up without tugging and forcing it up.
