Grip the steel head while you soak or rinse it, so you can use water hot enough to actually be worth using.
The Premium head holds heat, which is the point of it. That also means it is genuinely hot coming out of the water. The tongs clamp on so you can dunk it, hold it under a running tap and lift it back out without hunting around for a towel.

What they are for
·Pre-heating the steel head before a shave, so it stays warm through it
·Rinsing the head out under hot water afterwards without burning your fingers
·Holding the head steady while you work it back and forth to strop the blades
Warming the head. Hot tap water only, and never above 160 F (71 C). Do not use a hairdryer, a heat gun or any other hot air source on the shaver, and do not boil it.

Common questions
Do I need these?
Not to shave. They exist because the water that makes a steel head worth pre-heating is hotter than most people want to put their hands in.
Can I use boiling water with them?
No. Keep it below 160 F (71 C). Hotter than that risks the shaver, tongs or no tongs.
