As a preventative treatment, you should shock treat weekly to prevent pool problems which may occur when bathing loads are high, water appears hazy or dull, unpleasant odors or eye imitation occur, after heavy wind and rain storms, when temperatures are high, in case of colored water, or if algae develops with resulting green color and slimy feeling.
