I ordered the lowest priced matcha bowl that was available at the time. From the photo, I thought it was functional and plain. I don't mind simplicity, and I knew the lovely bright green color of the matcha would add more to the experience. Well, when I opened the box after the matcha bowl arrived, I was very pleasantly surprised. The bowl is not just some merely functional and "plain" sort of bowl. It obviously was made with much care and love. It's very beautiful in its simplicity. And so obviously hand-crafted, with a loving pride of Japanese ancestry in it. I'm not Japanese, but I got that feeling from it. The ancestral kind of "vibe" is in everything about this bowl, which fits so wonderfully in my cupped hands as I enjoy warm matcha in a bowl that was really made for this purpose.

I love this matcha bowl! Its exquisite deep marine blue colour contrasts nicely with frothy, vibrant green matcha. I love that visual. The chawan sits so nicely in my cupped hands and has just the right weight. Gently uneven line of the rim feels natural and is perfect for sipping.
