The color selection is very nice. You'd assume so with THIRTY SIX SHADES, but really the only color this set lacks is a nice deep purple. Most colors in the set are a nice junction between dull and vivid. As for the quality of the pencils themselves: they sharpen nicely, have a nice matte finish which feels very nice on the fingers, and the pigment is soft (similar to the hardness of watercolor paint) so they don't snap and they color smoothly even with a decent amount of pressure. Also, just like other POSCA products, they can write on many surfaces. They do worse than the markers on smooth surfaces like polished wood, but much better on rough surfaces like stone.

Posca oil based colored pencils are sensational. Colors are vibrant. Blending is easy. Pencils work on top of other media such as watercolor or acrylic markers.

They're okay. Only tried in a coloring book and wouldn't say they're worth the hefty price over the markers. But these are very very different as theyre oil based. I have a heavy hand when coloring so maybe they dont vibe well for me. However, still gonna use them ! Works way better by sharpening with a nice tip.

Through all these years, I've tried many brands of color pencils. I have a heavy hand when I draw, and Design Spectracolors held up fairly well, and have great colors, and are quite smooth. But, they still break under my brutish pressure. So, I heard about Posca's pencils. People kept remarking about their durability. I dove in and bought the 36 color set without even trying them first (a rookie move). Anyways, I have been using them in my current project and they are hands-down the best, toughest pencils I have ever used, with smooth, buttery fantastic colors. I am very impressed. Only problem is they have a rather limited color range, so I sometimes have to reach for my other brands, which now really bums me out because the others seem even more breakable than ever. Please Mitsubishi, make more colors! I LOVE THESE PENCILS!

The pencils are extremely soft and buttery. Very different experience to prismacolor. But I think there is room for having both. The colors are beautiful and vibrant and you can use them to add highlights on dark backgrounds
