![Back in my messy bedroom to share another bit of makeup advice I had to learn the hard way (aka, manyyyyyy days — probably even months and years — of looking like a kindergartener drew on my eye liner.) So if you have hooded or semi-hooded eyes, and want a way to do your winged liner that doesn't have to involve a bat wing, than this is for you. This is also a great uncomplicated application technique if you have multiple eyelid folds or crepey, loose eye lid texture. I happen to have both, so let me show you how I have adapted my wing liner technique! I am a longggg time user of the @Stila Cosmetics All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner because the formula is a true black, high pigment, and really does stay put once it sets. (Just scroll back on my page to see me put it to the test for ya'll through physical therapy and the accidental hand swatch waterproof test I did if you don't believe me!!) Plus its cruelty-free and never irritates my sensitive eyes. Especially as someone with a condition that affects my skin — and therefore my makeup application and longevity — I couldn’t be more impressed with the staying power. Lately I've been favoring their Micro-Tip liner — it's the same formula as my OG love, but with an even finer tip to help you get the thinnest lines. Even if you want a chunkier wing, a micro-tip pen can still be useful because if you are just learning or have unsteady hands, you can just build up your liner little by little. - Here are my top reminders for anyone working on their winged liner: 1. Slow and steady is the key here! If you rush through, you're more likely to make a major mistake and have to do a lot of reworking... which almost always ends up taking way longer. 2. As mentioned above, unless you have your routine down pat, it's often better to just do short, clean strokes and build the shape up. I know we see amazing babes just swishing that liner on in .5 seconds, but that's the minority -- even seasoned makeup artists carefully take their time to perfect liquid liner. 3. It's not going to be perfect, and that's okay! You can always clean up mistakes, but also remember that flawless isn't the goal here. 4. Trust the Process! It's probably gonna look really weird before you finish it and suddenly -- BAM! -- glam. 5. Lastly, you'll see a lot of people saying "Do this!" or "don't do that!" Remember that's just an opinion.
