The scent itself is a little harsh initially but after about 20 mins the top notes start to wear out and the smell gets much better. Very nice casual winter scent. The caps on the bottles are a little loose so I keep mine inside the packaging.

I recently Repurchased the new updated scent for this perfume the blend is better than the previous one and I enjoy the new bottle look although I wish it had just as much in it as the previous bottle. The scent has a longevity of about 5 hours which isn’t bad. I just wish the cap stayed close for the travel bottle and that the packaging was from a sturdier cardboard but overall the smell the packaging and the bottle is a great revision just please consider making it slightly bigger.

Something is different. I wore this for two years. I loved it. People loved it. I don’t wear it a lot nor do I wear a lot of it, but it was gooood. A stranger asked me what I was wearing at a crosswalk one time. “Someone smells good” in an elevator. It’s me. I smell good. I bought the perfume and the candles. This year I bought the big bottle and the big candle, but the perfume smells different. Instead of spicy and androgynous and sexy it’s smells kinda flat. Kinda like baby powder. And just too sweet and femme. Maybe I went nose blind too it. There’s a few drops left in my old travel spritzer. I would buy it again if I knew it would smell just like the candle, but there’s no way to know until you’re 80 bucks and shipping in. Probably gonna look for something else. I just don’t like how I smell now.

So sad about the formula change. This was my favorite every day scent and when I sprayed the new bottle I genuinely thought the product was spoiled, I had to wash my clothes to get the smell out. Please please make the older scent again!!!

5 stars for customer service! That being said. . . I am sooooo disappointed that they changed the formula for the Hinoki Fantome perfume. It used to be my absolute favorite scent. The new formula smells completely different and is missing the key incense-y wood-y smoke-y aspect that made me fall in love with the scent. Now it just smells like a cheap cloyingly sweet body spray that doesn't even last longer than the old formula. Bring back the old formula!!!

Sometimes it is best to leave well enough alone. If I had not fallen in love with Hinoki’s original formulation, I would have liked this new formulation more. What I liked about the original was the prevalent smell of tobacco. This new scent is sweeter. More like girl smells. I came to Boy Smells as a woman who prefers more masculine, less floral scents. Sigh.

Mysterious, alluring, definite compliment getter. The pear begins slightly floral and peppery bright with the cardamom, before turning lucious and juicy, sublimating into ghostly sweet and woody with a mysterious smoke and velvety oak tying the evening together. Instantly became my nightly choice of fragrance.

I really like this fragrance, but I think the old formula was a 10/10. This one seems a bit different and I think I’d prefer what I was used to.
