Single-Handle Buffing Wheel Rake for Metal Polishing
Single-Handle Buffing Wheel Rake is an essential tool for removing built-up or hardened Metal Polishing Compound from the edge of your Airway Buffing Wheels. Regular raking helps restore the wheel’s effectiveness and ensures a consistent shine.
Over time, spent compound hardens on the wheel edge, reducing performance. The rake safely strips off this buildup—keeping your wheel in peak condition for high-gloss polishing.
This rake is compatible with buffs running on lathes, bench grinders, or angle grinders. It measures 8" x 4.75" at its widest points.
How to Use a Buffing Wheel Rake:
Ensure your buffing wheel is running at speed.
• For bench grinders or lathes: hold the rake firmly in place.
• For angle grinders: anchor the rake with your foot and apply the grinder edge carefully to the rake.
This process clears hardened compound and flattens wheel edges, keeping your buffing wheel soft and effective for metal polishing.
When Should You Rake?
If you're seeing less aluminum dust or a shiny silver edge on the wheel, it’s time to rake. These signs show the compound has caked and needs to be cleared.
Once raked, apply fresh Metal Polishing Compound to restore polishing performance.
Pro Tip: Rake your buffing wheel before every compound change and periodically during long polishing sessions for best results.
