Guys lessons like this have to be learned when the kids are already calm. You have to pretend like it’s a new game, like it’s a new toy, like it’s something fun. They can’t know they’re learning something or that would take away from the fun of learning something 😂 kids learn best through play, it’s been proven over and over again. #toys#momsoftiktok#autism#sensory#fidget

Replying to @LunaLeigh I absolutely love this app because it comes with instructions, and it tells you how to introduce the fidget to relieve stress. It’s teaching you to move the energy through your body and not hold onto it and sit in it. Love love love this! ##copingskills#tantrums#toddlers#sensory#adhd

We can start giving our children coping skills at three?!! we can teach them to move the energy through their body? We can teach them where their triggers are? How to relieve stress in a healthy way? AT THREE?!! ##kids#momsoftiktok#feelings#copingskills#fidgettoys

Snag them here in the TikTok shop! Honestly, I feel like a lot of “coping skill toys” miss the mark but these are clearly created with experts - the cards alone are an incredible tool and use a lot of the same techniques I teach parents to use with their kids. And reminder… practice coping skills when you child is calm and never force them. Once your child is beginning to regulate, use these tools to help bring them the rest of the way. Bonus: they easily turn into great toys for imaginary play - becoming whatever your child wants them to be! #copingskills #toddlertantrums #childtherapist #bigemotions #momsoftiktok

I was a complete just regulated mess with my first son, I was in such survival mode that I just needed him to cooperate with me. I needed him to do what I told him to do when I told him to do it because I didn’t have time to negotiate and argue with him. And trying so desperately hard to be more respectful and mindful this time around. This shit is hard! emotional regulation was not a skill I was born with or taught as a child, so teaching someone else while you’re trying to learn it is real real hard. Pray for us #tantrums#toddlersoftiktok#toddlermom#momsoftiktok#mom

The tantrum stage is really really hard and this isn’t going to work all the time and it’s especially not gonna work the very first time. Lessons like Lee usually have to be learned in a super calm, fun learning environment. You cannot wait for your child to throw a tantrum and then hand them this set of tools, they will throw them back at you. ##tantrums#toddlers#bigfeelings#feelings#copingskills

He learned how to do this with my teenager when he was probably 11 or 12. It wasn’t nearly as cool or as cute, but we created our own fidgets in our own sensory tools to help calm us down. Now they come premade with instructions and I just can’t believe the world has come this far 🥹 ##copingskills#autism#adhd#anxiety#mentalhealth

This right here is how we change the world! We teach our kids coping skills and emotional regulation from a really early age, can you imagine what we could teach them by the time they’re 10, 11, 12?! Can you imagine the world we could create with these beautiful humans 🥹❤️ ##emotions#feelings#mentalhealth#copingskills#education

I’m not a perfect parent, not even close. This is a lesson my three year old is currently learning and is NOT having a good time doing it! My 11 year old wasn’t nearly as stubborn or defiant. This won’t work for every kid. He’s yelled NO at me over that mochi more often than not but even if we never get to the point to where he wants it, we’re talking. We’re talking about it every day. #emotions#feelings#adhd#sensory#autism
