It’s been fun!! I’ve immersed myself in old albums I heard as a child bringing back great memories. Push start and forget about it- don’t forget to turn off your Bluetooth speakers if you’re using them. It’s just like the good floor model stereos of old. I’m glad I gifted myself this present. Merry Christmas to all, Be Blessed!!

#old #victrolatalkingmachine The VV 8-4 was a mid-range floor-model Orthophonic phonograph introduced in the summer of 1926. It was a slightly smaller version of Victor's Credenza, and was priced $65.00 less than the 'flagship' model. The 8-4 was a strong performer for its size, but the large horn resulted in a cabinet with a rather 'boxy' appearance. It was a popular seller during the second-half of 1926, but production of this model had ceased by the end of the year, when it was replaced by the VV 8-12, which had a much slimmer profile. The 8-4 was available only with a mahogany finish, and included an automatic brake and a 4 spring motor. It sold for $235.00, which equates to approximately $3,500.00 in today's money. Early versions of this model do not have the padded "record rest" on the left side of the motorboard, which was added later in production; otherwise, all 8-4's are identical. NOTE: the 8-4 at left is missing the original "bun feet" on the base of the legs. Approximately 19,000 Victrola 8-4's were produced. Electric-motor versions (VE 8-4) were available for $35.00 extra. An estimated total of 6,200 VE 8-4's were made.

Spinning a piece of history — The Concert for Bangladesh (1971) was the first-ever major benefit concert, organized by George Harrison & Ravi Shankar to raise relief funds during the Bangladesh Liberation War. With legends like Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, and Billy Preston, it became a blueprint for Live Aid and every charity mega-show after. The triple album still carries that raw, once-in-a-lifetime energy of music with a purpose. #vinylcommunity #nowspinning #recordtok #georgeharrison

Dropping the needle on Preston Epps’ Bongola (1961) — a hypnotic bongo-driven trip that followed his smash hit “Bongo Rock.” Epps, an Oklahoma-born percussionist who learned bongos while serving in Korea, went on to play with legends like Ray Charles and Jackie Wilson. Though Bongola didn’t hit the charts, it’s a hidden gem full of jungle-tinged rhythms and exotic grooves that later fed into the breakbeats of early hip-hop. #vinylcommunity #nowspinning #music
