Want to learn how to stylishly mend your clothing? This Sashiko Style Visible Mending Workshop teaches Japanese sashiko, a mending technique that uses the running stitch to patch and reinforce garments with geometric stitch patterns. You’ll build practical skills through a hands-on, 2-hour class designed for real repairs, not just theory.
In class, fiber artist and author Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ will walk you through the full sashiko process, including how to design a pattern, reinforce a garment with a patch, prep your thread, create the running stitch, and finish your thread. You’ll also learn how to care for your garment after mending.
You can bring a garment to class to mend, or you can practice on sample cotton fabric. All other materials are provided, making it easier to get started. Class time is Oct 24th, 1–3pm, and the studio notes that class sizes are limited so materials are prepared in advance.
