absolutely love this espresso machine! the built in tamper takes the guesswork out of the tamping and saves time too. i used to work as a barista and although it is not as powerful as a commercial machine it is amazing quality and makes every morning cup of coffee taste amazing! my only regret is not buying this sooner.

I wanted an espresso machine both semi- and mainly-automated. But more than that, I wanted an espresso maker that made serious espresso. I'm still experimenting with the manual settings, and that's great. You can be a Saturday morning barista or a trained barista. This thing accommodates each. This was my Saturday afternoon cappuccino.

The first Barista Express Impress I bought was broken when it arrived. The second one lasted a couple hundred uses, but then broke as well. Dealing with Breville has been a nightmare.
They refuse to even discuss my machine being broken, and tell me it isn't working because I am using the machine wrong. Before it was broken I used it for over a year. I have had six phone calls with Breville over the past two weeks. I have run cleaning cycles and tests on their orders and sent them photos of the issues with the machine and they will not even talk about fixing it. They stonewall, delay, say they'll call and then never do, or call at the wrong time and then complain I didn't pick up.
I have been a Breville customer for many years, but never again.
They tell people not to discuss issues with their service section in reviews, but my Breville Express Impress currently does not make espresso, or indeed do anything. It is a useless lump of metal. One Star.

This a well-built machine and after several months of use, it sure delivered and saved us good amount of money. The auto puck system is the main feature, and it actually works. Cleaning is relatively easy and the auto puck definitely makes that journey easier.
The main problem is the promised 9-bars. No matter what I do or whatever bean type fresh or few days old, different grinding trials, the machine will either:
1- provide acceptable flow within the lower half of the pressure gauge
2- does not provide anything (the guage still not reaching high levels - this is the case if I grind at fine)
3- Provide large amount of coffee at very low pressure
A friend of mine has the manual puck edition. The pressure works like charm without a sweat.
I honestly gave up on attempts. I believe there is a safety feature in it that prevents the higher 9-bars pressure. After 2 years of use, I was never able to get it there for the perfect cup.
I hope it is only me, as otherwise, this is an excellent machine and our geusts are also happy. It looks good on the counter as well.
I hope this helps.

This Barista was given as a gift to a family member. They have expressed how much they love it and it can do so many things. I may get one for myself!

We've had the Breville Dual Boiler for the past 7 years and switched to the Barista Express Impress recently when the steaming function on the DB stopped working. So this is really a comparison of those two Breville machines. While I like the smaller footprint of the Impress, and the need not to have a separate grinder on the countertop, the Dual Boiler (DB) is a much more powerful and better espresso machine. The PROS for the Impress are: the smaller footprint, integrated grinder and tamping features. My husband says it makes better espresso than the Dual Boiler, but maybe that's because its new and our Dual Boiler needed servicing. The CONS: The steaming function on the Impress leaves a lot to be desired. It takes a few moments to 'prime' before the steam comes out, it takes much longer to steam milk than on the DB, and is much louder than the steam function on the DB (like very loud and high pitched). The drip tray fills up fast on the Impress. It seems as if water is released as part of the brewing or steaming function, and the drip tray needs to be emptied every 2-3 days. The DB could go much longer without having to empty the drip tray. The water and bean hopper on the Impress are smaller and therefore, need to be filled up more often then the DB. In the DB, water can be refilled from the front of the machine, which is more convenient. Overall, I like the smaller footprint of the Impress and integrated grind/tamp, but really miss steam and overall functionality of the Dual Boiler which seemed like a better made and more robust machine.

I bought about a month ago and I’m so happy I did

I honestly love my Breville! I think it’s very easy to use and makes amazing espresso

From the start we’ve had issues with the machine. It’s not consistent at all.

Purchased 2 weeks ago. After thoroughly researching many espresso machines and brands, we landed on the Breville Barista Express Impress. We were unsure about spending this much, would it be worth it? The answer: absolutely!!
If you love high quality coffee & espresso as we do, you won’t be disappointed. This machine is easy to use and produces espresso as good as any pro coffee house. The onboard grinder is a must, easy and convenient and saves time. Easy to learn and get up to speed for the novice barista. The only downside is that we’ve gone though 2 bags of beans in 2 weeks. It’s too easy and too convenient…

Breville Express Impress, with many user-friendly features, like automatic, guided grinding / tamping helps even a beginner to make cafe-grade espresso / latte at home. With its commercial grade design, the product is really a value-for-money Coffee machine! The water tank behind the machine snugly sits, and I just pour over water to refill it - no need to take out. I love Breville Express Impress especially for the money saving with this machine at home!!

We bought our machine 2 weeks ago, so it is still early to say. But so far so good. Good coffee, off course that is depending on the coffee beans used. The machine is easy to use and comes with good instructions.
It does has a lot of spilled water in the resevoir in the bottom, so make sure to keep an eye on that. Overall very happy, great look in the kitchen

Seems nice, have not had it long enough to give a review.

After returning the first Barista Express Impress that would not dose properly, the second machine works fine. However, the touch controls are so sensitive that mistakes are easy to make and you can waste lots of grounds. The instruction manual does not include a "Trouble shooting" section. Big error! I still have trouble when switching from the dual filter basket to the single. Overdose time! Very frustrating.

I am absolutely enjoying my machine. So glad that I pull the trigger on it because I was on the fence. It was so easy to set up. I now have a perfect cup of expresso every morning.
