I got this as kind of an impulse purchase because there was a discount on it since I was buying something else from this site and I had thought about getting a weighted blanket before. I have been using it for more than a week and enjoying it. It’s made in China but seems to be well made. We machine washed (cold) and dried it (on low) and it looked just the same as when it came out of the box. (I have a top load washer and we were careful to make sure it was evenly distributed in the drum, because it is 17lbs dry, I don’t think I would try to wash it in a side load washer.) My cats hear the glass beads and sometimes attack it and have claws and have destroyed my sheets before but do not seem to be able to do any damage to this weighted blanket. (If you have curious cats I would definitely monitor them around the blanket just in case, though!) I don’t know that I would say it is “cool”. It is warm but it is not as warm as layers of blankets that would add up to the same weight. I have the adult size and it fits almost perfectly in a twin size duvet cover, although I don’t know if carex recommends the use of a duvet cover or not. It definitely adds warmth to use a duvet cover so we might use it without a cover in the warmer months.
