Grew as it should! I started a row indoors, transplanted the strongest ones to nursery pots and then to a terracotta pot. I don’t usually have success putting a single basil plant in a pot (it ends up growing leggy), but this is a single plant and I was surprised with how full it has gotten. A beautiful plant—even with blemished leaves as we approach the end of the season. Very low maintenance too.

I plant basil all over my garden not only does it help protect my tomatoes from pests, but it’s marvelous when making sauce.

I can’t remember how I happened to buy Thai Basil seed the first time, but I love the scent and bees love the blossoms.

This will be my third year growing Thai Basil and I’ve always had great success with the taste and plant heartiness from the seeds I get from BI. Even the seed packets with their beautiful artwork gets me inspired!

I really love sweet Thai basil. It’s my favorite of the basils with a strong licorice flavor & a ton of flavor in a tiny leaf. I’ve grown it a lot before from other seed companies. I was excited to try this plant from BI this season. Unfortunately, These seeds did not germinate well no matter how I planted them & or no matter the environment. I’ll keep trying throughout the season & see if they do any better, but so far what even has germinated dies.

Great germination rate. They grew slowly at first but once the weather warmed up they became very prolific. I kept cutting them all Summer long. Very nice as an ornamental too. They looked great planted with other flowers.

Quick germination. I look forward to adding it to my culinary garden.

Grows great in 9b even with all the humidity. Tastes great, looks good once flowered, and is amongst the easiest things in my garden.

I love Thai basil. It grew very well in the raised bed.

This guy has been very prolific for me and my container garden. I placed two plants a bit too close together (oopsies), and they shaded out my rosemary--not that I'm complaining. I perhaps wish the leaves were a bit larger, but the taste is great. My partner loves using it in his mom's Vietnamese dishes.

I am in charge of growing the herbs for our Master Gardener plant sale and we grew Thai basil for our sale in May, but it was a learning experience…our greenhouse was too hot and I would have liked the plants to look better but we gained knowledge and these seeds I just received will be grown a bit different…having said all this, we did sell every plant we grew…these seeds are stored in the frig next to the Mayo to plant next February…..

..yes, I am such a fan of Thai green curry I would eat green curried anything, maybe even green curried socks (if provided in a pair. We all know how annoying a single curried sock can be). Green curry makes EVERYTHING better, but there's a note that I noticed missing in my own cooking when I tried to replicate my favorite dish at home - what's missing? It was a great excuse to go back to the restaurant again and, in these viral times, get more carry-out for scientific research. I discovered the missing ingredient is this - Thai basil. With its notes of clove and anise, it's much different than Italian (sweet) basil -- and unavailable at my local grocery! One packet is enough for successive sowings even for the most rabid Thai cuisine fan, but I have found that this herb dries fairly well, it thrives in a Phoenix sun, even in a limited area, and even the flower buds are delicious in my dishes. I have not yet served or eaten Green Curried Socks, but I don't doubt that Thai basil can only improve such a toe-tally tempting idea :)

I grow Thai basil each summer to eat fresh with spring rolls and soups. The excess is made into a Thai pesto of lime, peanuts, chili garlic paste, etc., shaped into logs and frozen. I cut coins off of the frozen pesto all winter to jazz up pho and basic ramen. The plant thrives in the heat of Zone 8b with an occasional watering from a soaker hose. Simply pinch off branches regularly and the bushy plant rebounds quickly.

I wanted to get an early start on my herbs and transplanted some Thai basil outside in late February. The transplants experienced crazy weather swings with temperatures in the low 40s and then into the 90s by March. The basil has been slow to grow with the low temperatures but made it through the cold nights, hail, heavy rains, and heavy sun. It is planted in a spot that by mid spring gets full sun (6 hrs+) and by mid summer is exposed to direct sun all day. It has experienced some pest pressure with little negative impact to the plant's health. Zone 8b

I am growing Thai Basil for the first time this year. It is a really pretty plant. I am glad I planted extra, because now I can let some of it flower. The bees love it, it smells great, it hasn't had any pest problems and it is growing vigorously. It tastes a little licorice-y. I personally love it, and eat leaves while I'm out gardening.

This basil is going strong. I had to transplant it to a bigger pot even.

I haven't had as much luck with this basil variety as I have with others. It's much slower to grow. Plant is still healthy and seeds had good germination.

About this product
Product description
Thai basil is a popular herb in Southeast Asian cuisine and is a flavorful garnish served with Vietnamese pho (a savory broth of noodles and meat). It holds its flavor and texture better after cooking than other basil varieties and adds a kick to salads when sliced and eaten fresh. Sweet Thai's dark purple flowers and intoxicating scent make it a beautiful addition to the flower garden. A terrific container variety.
