Dislike the expense, but I believe that it is worth the price. The best sharpening system that I have ever used. Follow the instructions and a great result will happen.

Sharpening stones grid on the v-block when setting at 15-18 degrees when sharpening my Santoku knives. System does not seem to handle lowest degree settings without interference

Kitchen knife looked nearly serrated and I completely restored it to a sharp edge.

I was excited to get my new sharpener. It was easy to set up and use. All of my knives are much sharper now. Being able to have a set angle is awesome for the consistency.
The strop attachment looked like it had already been used and didnt feel nearly as well made as the rest of the sharpeners.
I am giving it five stars, simply because it worked exactly as advertised.

The knife plant needs completely re-engineered. It does not have enough clamping, force or surface area to secure the blade without flexing.

Complete waste of money!
Used minimally and after 5 months it’s falling apart. Started to find screws around the sharpener after use and then they started to pop out while using.
Mostly plastic, wobbly while using, angle measuring is totally inaccurate, and inconsistent. Very limited number of sharpening grits and can’t add without purchasing additional equipment.
Apparently no QC and customer service is a joke as they don’t even respond.

Worksharp Precision Adjust
Got this after using freehand stones to and wanting to improve my sharpening.
Was initially impressed but that changed rapidly with use.
First off the system is not at all stable and if not held firmly wobbles around while sharpening. It is more plastic than metal.
Easy enough to try and set an angle to sharpen but cannot get consistent measurements as the measuring tool is wildly inaccurate and will also vary depending on where you place it. You are also limited to the size of blade you can sharpen as it won’t accommodate all sizes. The single clamp to hold the blade is tightened with a thumb dial on top of the clamp itself and is difficult to use and fully secure. There is also no way to lock the angle adjustment to prevent it from moving while sharpening. To do both sides of your blade you must tilt the entire sharpener backwards to be able to rotate it from side to side then put it back to the upright position to continue sharpening. If you want to use stones of any other grits other than those 5 included you need to buy an additional adapter to accommodate them.
The last and most troubling thing is that after a few months of use the whole thing started to fall apart with screws just falling off everywhere.
Forget customer support, they never respond to any mail sent to them.
Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for a quality knife sharpener.
This one is good for a paperweight.

I purchased this sharpener 2 months ago. The knife clamp would not snug up on my knife. I looked the adjust wheel and the rod it is threaded on, and found several black nylon threads in the steel adjust rod. I figured that someone purchased this kit previously, overnighted the clamp, and stripping the adjust wheel out, then brought it back to Runnings for a refund. Myself being a retired mechanic, decided I could repair this, and make it better. I have failed to find a die with the same thread as the adjusting rod. Therefore, I would like to purchase the knife clamp for this sharpener. My time for myself is very limited , I am a full time butler for my wife as she recovers from Quad tendon surgery, otherwise I would have returned this kit. Much thanks in advance !

It has a bent sharpening rod. This makes sharpening difficult. I sent a request for a new rod. Review depends not on the bent rod but on how you fix the problem.

Iv been using this sharping system for a year now I recently made the switch from softer still western knives to carbon still Japanese knives this system works grate for western knives made of softer still but when using the system to sharpen wider knives made from harder stills like blue #2 or carbon still the knife flex downward in front of the clamp and your actually removing metal behind the bevel i learned this the hard way with a $300.00 Japanese knife

This is by far the best sharpener I have ever used. So well thought out and user friendly. Its ability to put an absolutely scary edge of a knife is nothing short of amazing. My only issue is that there is no case with it, or even offered as an extra option. Having to repack it and tote it around in the box it came in is kind of disappointing and inconvenient. That being said, it’s still fantastic and well worth the purchase!

Yes, there are many sharpening systems available. Some cheap, some super expensive. “You get what you pay for” doesn’t always apply because as many have seen, inexpensive sharpeners can do the job. This particular sharpener was chosen because I have one of their Mk . 2 electric knife and tool sharpeners and it too worked well. I purchased that one a few years back but wanted something that required manual manipulation when sharpening pocket knives. I wish finer stones are offered as many reviewers consistently mention and additional accessories that would expand the usefulness of this already excellent sharpener but nevertheless , I’m glad I purchased it and have sharpened 15-20 various kitchen and pocket knives. All ended up super sharp with little effort. I highly recommend for someone that has plenty of cutlery in their possession. You won’t be disappointed. .

This device is almost perfect. All you need is a few pieces from Etsy to give extra support to long/wide blades. Oh and a CASE!!! You can get a case for the cheap model but not this one. Makes no sense to me. But still happy I got It.

I own almost every sharpener that Work Sharp makes. I’ve been looking for the perfect sharpener and may have finally found it. I wished they made a storage container for the system. I ended up buying a snowman (company that makes coolers) box to store several sharpeners and then 3D printed a block for my stones. Now the kit is complete.

I rarely leave reviews for products, but I feel obligated this time. Simply put, this is the most effective sharpener I’ve ever used. I’m not good (terrible, actually) at sharpening free-handed, so I would just send my knives out to be sharpened periodically. No more! I told a friend that you almost have to try to mess up a blade to mess up a blade. I’ve put a razor edge on every style of blade I own, from a single-bevel tanto to a double-edge dagger. I’ve even been able to repair a couple of kitchen knives with damaged edges.
In short, the design is simple, the construction is solid, and the results speak for themselves. It’s well worth the money.

I have been using a Work Sharp Ken Onion for some of my sharpening needs, and another brand kitchen sharpener for my kitchen knives. When the PPA sharpener arrived, I immediately set it up and went about sharpening all my kitchen knives, as well as several pocket folders. I had previously watched several of the very informative YouTube videos on using the PPA, so set-up and use was a breeze. The device is very stable, and it produces terrific results. I really, really like the small-knife table - I have always had difficulty sharpening paring knives and small folders on other systems. Not any more!
Yes, I would highly recommend this system

This sharpener is awesome. It makes it very easy to get razor sharp blades.

Loving this sharpener. It improves upon the original in many aspects, larger stones, swapping stones on a single head, a rest for the abrasive head to sit in out of the way while you turn the blade over or take a break. The only downside I see as of right now is that the mouth of the clamp is too shallow, and because of this when sharpening large knives such as kitchen knives, they tend to sag and twist, even with the clamp support. Perhaps worksharp can release some cheap adjustable rests to further support larger blades? Free floating, so as to be easy to move around when flipping sides on the blade, and twist adjusted like the feet on appliances, with a padded top, would be fantastic and pretty much universal. I will say too, some cheap blank stones to use for lapping film wouldn't hurt either. Other than some simple add-on requests, this system is fantastic and overall well thought out.

In my early 80's I have taken up the semi-hobby of sharpening knives. My wife gifted me the Work Sharp PPA for my birthday. She saw me struggling with Whetstones not being able to hold the angle and decided this was the cat's-meow and she was right. I'm not so much intrigued with polished edges as I am sharp edges, so the PPA is an excellent choice for me. I have been using the Guided Field Sharpener for over a year now in the field, but can get a sharper edge with the Work Sharp PPA.
