The following review is based on two playthroughs of the game (3 rounds each) with 6 adults aged between 20-50. The Good: -Just like the original game, it's fun and challenging to see people try to Neanderthal speak & hilarious when they fail and get hit with the inflated club -The clear club patch is a nice touch to help with broken clubs The Bad: -The cards to guess are from such a wide variety of categories (films/shows/songs) which span various periods of time from the 60's to present day, so it's very challenging to guess if they're not familiar with those eras. -There are several (actually, almost a majority of) cards that Neanderthal poets weren't familiar with as to what categories (films/show/song) it is, so it made it extremely hard to describe and have others guess. Potential Solutions: -It would be a lot better if the cards were more limited on the category/era/theme. You could just do strictly songs or films or tv shows without mixing so people would know what to guess. But if you wanted to keep all three, maybe just limit the cards to popular titles from specific eras (70s/80s/etc) or specific themes or fandoms (Disney/Star Wars/Marvel/Harry potter/pokemon/etc.) -It would be very helpful if the card itself indicated what category it belongs in (show/film/song/etc) to aid both the poet and guesser.

I buy Christmas presents early. I always enjoy the creativity of the exploding kitten’s products. This year I’ve brought my nephews this pop culture edition of Poetry for Neanderthals. I know they’ll enjoy it all year round.

We played this game with 7 adults over 40. It was the first time playing any version of PFN for 6 of the adults. The consensus was the game was fun however the pop culture answers were pretty difficult and maybe 10-15% we didn’t know the reference. The group definitely wanted to play the original game afterwards though!

Once again, Exploding Kittens have crushed it with their Poetry for Neanderthals Pop Culture expansion! I always struggle to find film/tv/celebrity games that are good and this one is amazing. Same principle, give people clues using one syllable words and laugh all game night!

Incredibly easy to pick up and play with a group of any size. I brought it to a family get together with a wide age range of players who had wildly different pop culture knowledge. This was a bit of a hurdle when it came to getting points, but it was hilarious watching people struggle to describe something that was incredibly popular at one time using only single syllable words. If you want the game to go smoothly, I recommend playing with groups of people with similar pop culture knowledge bases, but you do not need Poetry for Neanderthals to go smoothly to have fun.

I was concerned when we first bought poetry for Neanderthals that we would run out of cards. But now with the first expansion and now this version, that isn't even a concern. This game has a lot of current events that will help younger teens want to play. Still great game play from the original game. I like it!

I thought the original was amazing, but this one takes it up a notch - every card is movies, tv, sports…and that seems easy, right? I dare you to do War and Peace… Same awesome play mechanic with a fresh deck of cards - I know I tried to do movie quotes with single syllable words…and definitely got bonked more than a few times with the NO! stick.

This version of poetry for Neanderthals is very fun and interesting. I wish it had more features and I don’t quite like that it has less than the original. Still great and fun! I like the cards and the theme is very intriguing.

My family and I had a chance to play this game and had a blast! Not going to lie, my kids probably enjoyed the inflatable more than the game but still had a lot of fun and laughs. Excited to play with more friends!

We played the game again as a family, which included my husband (48), son (18), daughter (15) and myself (46). We absolutely loved it and had the best time! Playing "Poetry for Neanderthals: Pop Culture Edition" is a total riot! It's perfect for game nights with friends or family because it's super easy to pick up and gets everyone laughing in no time. Trying to describe your favorite pop culture stuff with only one-syllable words is harder than it sounds, leading to some hilarious moments and creative thinking. Trust me, if you're looking for a fun and memorable game, this one's a winner​!

we had SUCH a great time playing this new version! We tend to play cooperatively (a la the Date Night version of Why Are You Like This?), because of the different ages in the family, but it's awesome EVERY TIME. Family and friends ages 11-75 all enjoy this game.

First of all, I LOVE Poetry For Neanderthals and the standard/expansion cards are an absolute blast!! The Pop Culture version was a little rougher tho. I played with 3 early 20’s people (2 of them from Japan) and it was a rough go. As a 55yo myself, I knew more newer and older references. On the other hand, the other 3 had a tougher time. Part of it was being from Japan and part of it was just not being aware of things from the distant past (for them). As an example, they had no idea about Rolling Stones songs and I didn’t know deep cut Netflix titles. I feel this game would work better with some pre-vetting of cards to make it more accessible. And I can’t even imagine how a 7yo would do. We STILL had fun and now we’re arranging a game night to play the standard version of PFN. 😊
