I delivered at Stanford Hospital, and my hospital bill for a non-complicated, natural birth was $280K. In my postpartum room, they provided basic perineal recovery essentials. Here’s what each item is typically used for: • Tucks pads – Witch hazel pads commonly used to calm sensitivity and support comfort during recovery. • Ice pads – Help with swelling and general soreness during the first couple of days postpartum. • Disposable panties – Designed to hold pads securely and make changes easier during recovery. • Large maternity pads – Used to manage normal postpartum discharge in the early days. • Peri bottle – A gentle rinse bottle often used after using the restroom to keep the area clean and reduce discomfort. I also asked for Dermoplast since I forgot mine at home, and the hospital provided it. • Dermoplast spray – Commonly used to help with temporary soreness and sensitivity after delivery. Once I was home, these were my personal preferences (not medical advice, just my experience): • Adult diapers – I found them more comfortable and secure than pads with mesh underwear. • Frida Mom peri bottle – The angled design felt easier and gentler than the standard hospital bottle. • Frida Mom witch hazel pads – Meant for soothing, though they weren’t my personal favorite.
