After a first glance at the handbook, I feel like it has so much there in terms of content- it's like a quick flyby of a Hermeneutics degree. However, even for me, the layout feels cramped and I miss the workbook type style of studies. I realize that this is a handbook, but more margin, space, larger print and headings would help me to find what I am looking for as a reference. This feels more like a textbook than a "handbook."

It's pretty goofy to be referencing predestination and John Calvin as if his reinterpretation of scripture 1500 years later writes over everything the Church believed and practiced since the apostles. John Chrysostom's homilies on Romans show not only that the early Christians did not hold this belief - in fact, he didn't even think to argue against it because it didn't exist for another 1200 years. Was the Church (of which Christ said the gates of hell would never prevail against) lost for 1500 years? Of course not... that makes no sense. Be careful where you are getting your bible studies from.

I am super excited for this new upcoming year to be able to use the Bible study handbook as well as one the Bible in a year reading guides. I think that using both of these at the same time will really help me be able to dive deeper into the word each and every day. I love how beautifully illustrated all of the handbooks and devotional books are. It truly makes it more special to read when the materials are done so well. Truly worth every penny spent.

I bought this book to look over and decide what I want to do with it: keep it for myself or give it away to a new believer to use. I have spent a little time looking through it and I am really excited to keep it for myself AND buy another to give away! The book is lovely, but more importantly, it has solid teaching tools for everyone from a new believer to a seasoned follower of Christ who wants to take personal Bible study to a deeper level.
