Within the framework of the series “Atardece en Trópico” (“Tropical Sunset”), the studies Remedios titled “Vorágine” (“Maelstrom”) were born, in memory of and in relation to the novel by José Eustasio Rivera, which she read during childhood—a story of two lovers set between the plains and the Amazon jungle.

The epilogue of the story lingered in her mind and within a few drawings over the years, taking on new forms and resurfacing in these recent studies.
