It's sort of a lightweight gel that doesn't sting at all on delicate tissues. I've only used it externally to help with a lack of natural lubrication, but it works really well for that. I'd say it mimics natural lubrication fairly well. It ends up being a "barely-there" sensation, while providing the needed lubrication.
