UCO makes two portable fire pits, and we own them both. We just purchased the larger smokeless portable fire pit, and it does exactly what UCO claims. Little or no smoke. It is sturdy and durable. It is nicely designed and finished--no sharp edges. We love it!

I love this firebox! I've used it on a couple camping trips so far and it will go with me on every trip now - and replace using the fire rings at campsites. This thing burns wood so efficiently and distributes heat very well. You can have tall flames if you want - or have a smaller, virtually smokeless, warm fire. I haven't cooked on it yet, but don't anticipate any issues when I do - this thing gets plenty hot! This thing has exceeded my expectations to say the least. I made a heat deflector out of a tripod camp grill and a large pizza pan - which made sitting around the campfire very nice.

Chicken on the grill in Hawaii looks a little different than most places. ;) Used with wood this Uco Firepit did a mighty fine job staying smokeless and cooking up a storm (it did smoke a little the morning after when we didn't clean it out before using again). Well-made and so compact/flat it can easily stay in the vehicle, ready for impromptu campfires. Glad it comes with a case. Hubs was stoked!!

I’ve been able to use this on a few raft trips. Works great. We put it on a cheapo welding blanket to catch a few stray embers that fall from the lower corners. (Stove has to fold up somehow). Works well with charcoal. Grill has space for a couple of flank steaks or about 10 bratwursts. Don’t worry about the distance from coals to grill. This is an inferno. You will use a lot less charcoal than one would think. The fire pan directs the heat and smoke straight up. If it’s a really cold night, place your wood on end so it sticks up a bit for more radiant heat. I love this thing. Weighs a fraction of a usual fire pan. Takes up a lot less space. Can’t recommend this item enough!
