I have bought a pair of these for both my daughter and son who have experienced ankle sprains playing sports. We have tried other braces and the Betterguards have been a game changer for them. I was apprehensive, but this thing is a game-changer. Just did 20 miles with 5,000' gain on super technical trails in the NE. Felt 5 instances where my ankle tried to catastrophically roll but this prevented it. i was apprehensive because although I loved the concept of the seat belt style stop cable, I couldn't wrap my mind around the fact it was connected to an elastic-like sock, which i was equating to a seatbelt being attached to bungee cords. Well, it just works, and fantastically. I've been using another ankle brace with a rigid plastic piece that goes under the insole. The plastic was causing me problems, and the brace was just so rigid. This gave me the mobility back that I wanted, and someone stops the mobility I don't want. I'm thrilled. The ankle i wear it on has had surgery with a cable-like fiber placed inside to prevent further injury, but it doesn't stop extreme pain if my ankle does try to roll; it's like a last resort. This was the first line of defense and no leaves me wondering if the ankle surgery was worth it since I experience pain in the surgery side often. If this existed 5 years ago, I'd have started with it over surgery. Even better, without the rigidity of my prior braces plastic underfoot, my arch was able to flex and I actually could feel it strengthening. Overall fantastic product and I can't wait to use it on my upcoming Ultra trail races!

My son had been struggling with his ankle for months. Most braces have been very restrictive and he hasn’t been able to play at his ability due to the constriction of the other braces. He’s now back in the game and forgets he even has it on. He said it feels like he’s not wearing anything until it does its job.

I love this brace so much, it's the only reason I'm able to do my job now, I have very weak ankles and I work in landscaping and roof cleaning, and it is completely necessary to have strong ankles in this line of work. After spraining the same ankle several times in the span of three months, I bought this brace hoping it could help me, and it has honestly been life changing. Ever since wearing this brace I have been able to stay in the job and have confidence when on roofs or working on slopes. My daughter has has ankle problems her entire life. She has even had to have surgery to address the issue. After her surgery, her surgeon advised her to wear ankle braces to support her ankle. We spend hundreds, and hundreds of dollars on different braces. They were either too thin and provided no actual support, or they were supportive, but were so bulky they were clumsy, or irritated her ankle terribly. We were told about Better Guards, and figured we would try them, as the worst we could do was find another ankle brace that did not work. She watched the video, and adjusted them accordingly. In basketball practice, the said that she could feel where her ankle would start to roll, but did not. She adjusted the tension and has been happy with them since. We even bought a backup pair, in case they were damaged, or (as kids will, lost). I believe that she would leave her phone before she would leave her Better Guards. Yes, they are expensive, but doctor's visits, surgery, and missed opportunities cost more.

On March 14th, my 16-year-old daughter sprained her ankle while competing in a national qualifier volleyball tournament. She does not usually wear braces as she has wide feet, and we had not been able to find something that would give her feet a bit of freedom while also providing stability when needed until now! This brace does precisely what it claims to do, allowing my daughter's foot to move naturally. However, the moment her ankle begins to roll, the piston engages and locks, securing her ankle. This is extremely important because her ankle is still healing, and we do not want to cause further injury. One of the most significant issues I have with athletes wearing braces during practice and games is that the braces restrict the natural movement of the foot and ankle, thereby hindering the ability to strengthen them. This can lead to weakened feet and ankles, making them more prone to injury. However, BetterGuard 2.0 provides the stability an athlete needs to prevent injury while allowing the foot and ankle to make the athletic movements required for the sport, and also allows the foot and ankle to gain strength. Although the price point of the BetterGuard 2.0 is higher than that of other braces, I believe it to be superior to the competition and highly recommend it to every athlete.

These braces are great. The Engineering, design and materials are great. The price may seem high for an ankle brace but is definitely consistent with its technological enhancements. I would personally like to see some compromise on the first experience of putting them on. I find it a little too challenging to put them on. The sock feels great and provides a good amount of compression support and is lightweight which allows your foot to move and rotate naturally and doesn’t bulk your shoe but putting them on is difficult.

My daughter does competitive fencing, which involves lots of sudden moves and stops and very easy to cause ankle injuries. These ankle braces are a life changer. They allow your ankles to move freely in normal situations but can be quickly engaged to prevent the ankles from over bending. I liked the concept but was not fully convinced that they actually work until tonight I witnessed they saved my daughter from a serious injury. Best investment ever! Already bought two pairs and will be a lifetime customer!

My daughter rolled her ankle and we got a cheaper version online that was recommended by various professionals. However, the cheaper version is clumsier to put on, has laces and in general was just not as sleek and comfortable and easy to use as the Bettergaurds. If you have an athlete, then consider these braces an investment. We got one for each side and couldn’t be happier with our purchase. Highly recommend!

Truly pleased with the product — my ankle feels much more stable and I have peace of mind that I’m unlikely to roll it again and hurt it worse. The folks at BetterGuard are very helpful and courteous. The warehouse processing and mailing system is a bit slow, but it is definitely worth the wait.
