I love both of these knives. The chef's knife has good heft and both are very sharp. My experience with the Misen utility knife is that these are easy to keep sharp.

This knife is indeed very sharp! So be very careful especially if you’ve been using other knives that do get as sharp. This knife was recommended to me by my nephew who follows a lot of famous chefs who also use this knife. I highly recommend it.

Getting more into/better at cooking and wanted upgrade my knives. I have a Shun utility knife that I used to use for practically everything because it was only nice knife I had that could keep an edge. Not any more! I don’t do much cooking that I really need a quality pairing knife for but I was happy to get it in the set. I can say the quality is nice and sharp right out of the box. The chef knife on the other hand I have used quite a bit in the last few weeks and it’s really nice to have the right tool for the job. Very sharp right out of the box, no touch ups or rehoning the edge needed. Knife is really balanced. You can rock or cut straight down and feels great either way. Back of the blade is thick enough to smash garlic and not worry. I’m not a professional chef by any means so I can’t tell you how long the blade will hold an edge or how comfortable it is to use all day. But from my humble home cook point of view, I’m very pleased with my purchase!

I have a lot of MAC and assorted Japanese knives, but find myself always reaching for the Misen knives. They feel good in the hand, hold an edge well and are very affordable. I find myself buying them for friends and family.

Slowly but surely I'm replacing all my other knives with the Misen obes. They are the most comfortable and the perfect weight for both my husbands and myself hands. Perfect weight, slices smoothly. The paring knife is amazing. Very comfortable holding while peeling apples and potatoes. I never used one and boy, I'm glad I bought this set. We each have our own chef knife and now I think I'll have to buy another paring knife. We cook together daily and both are satisfied customers of Misen.

I have many knives in my kitchen but I always reach for my Misen knives first. They're sharp and they always seem to be the perfect weight for whatever I'm cutting. So easy to handle. A visiting family member recently commented on them, so I know what I'm giving him for Christmas!
