I’ve been trying to find the perfect handle for a wedge banger axe to carry with me when dropping trees and I think I’ve finally found it. Being a short handle for the size of axe head is perfect as it feels sturdier and allows me to take full swings on wedges regardless of where I’m at around the tree or how much brush is in my way. Absolutely great experience all around from Whiskey River I’ll definitely be buying more from them in the future

This handle is just about the most perfect thing I have ever ordered. All I had to do was fit the axe head. That’s it! No sanding varnish off, no trimming the ends, nothing. Just got the head, set the wedge, and trim off the excess.

28” overall length. Roughly 24” from base of head to end of handle after hanging. Hung a 3lb Sager Chemical on mine. I ended up narrowing the handle a bit as it was slightly fatter than I prefer. Great handle tho. Grain structure was dead on perfect and the Walnut wedge I added to the purchase was a nice touch of color. It’ll make a good wedge banger.

Wedge kerf was off center in a premium handle. Not what you would expect from a premium handle. Other than that handle was of good quality. Made it work.

Hung the handle up on a plumb victory jersey pattern and put it to work banging wedges and it’s performing very well, handle shape feels nice In the hand. Will definitely be hanging some more wedge bangers on these handles. I’ve bought some other handles from different sites but now that I found whiskey river and have got to put their handle into action I won’t be buying handles from anywhere else.

Solid piece of Hickory that is easy to hang onto with a 4lb axe head attached. Outstanding job pounding wedges and splitting firewood. So happy.

My handle came with unimpeachable wood - clear and white with fantastic grain orientation (I ordered A grade).
The only demerit I have is that the shoulder upon which the axe head seats is minimally sized. My head ended up having an eye that ran large and resulted in a hang that is almost certainly functional but which leaves a portion of the eye unsupported by the handle. YMMV depending on eye size.

This thing is a CHONK. Gives you the feeling you could split steel beams for decades. I initially was a tad put off by the thickness until I used it a few times to split wood. The mass definitely helps offset the shorter length, and I'm not afraid of cracking the handle (unless I overstrike, which nobody, especially never me ever does...).

Great handles with great grain orientation. Wish the eye was built larger like the heritage handles to better fit rafting patterns. This handle will hold up to lots of abuse and pounding.

Purchased this handle for fixing an old axe for use by smaller teens and young adults. And they loved it! perfect size and length for slightly smaller individuals learning to use an axe. And experienced people with bigger hands can use it as an oversized hatchet with no trouble.

The 28” grade A hickory fallers axe handle is the best handle I’ve ever bought. When you handle it, it just feels different than handles found at big stores. It’s hard to explain though. It’s smooth and seems just more solid. No space between the fibers- just smooth and solid. Very nice color. I have 15 axes and this one is the best quality.Yeah, it’s double the price of a cheap one but if you use it often you won’t regret it!!

Here is an awesome handle to get your logging operation back up and running! This straight single bit handle is used in conjunction with a full sized single bit head to create a versatile part of a fellers timber harvesting tool kit! It's great at being used in tight spaces and for pounding wedges. Personally I love it for bucking and splitting fire wood. The short straight handle gives you the ability to generate a lot of force very quickly and very precisely.
This handle is on the thicker side to withstand the beating a fallers axe takes. It's designed this way on purpose. If you feel it should be thinner, this handle is shaped in a way that it can have material removed to match your desired shape.
This is an incredibly high quality, hand picked axe handle made from good ole American Hickory!
The dimensions of the eyes are: ~ 2 1/2" x 3/4"
Shoulder is a full 1" wide.
