The black cable is fine for battery cable negative, however, the red is translucent and should only be used for 'stereo' equipment, IMO. Not only that but the red cable is copper 'clad' aluminum. I'm not sure about the black as I repackaged both for return.

I like to soder a little at the stranded ends before crimping into fittings to know the attachment stays fine. Million little wires, some get loose etc.. and best to have a little hardened lump to screw against or crimp to.

This 1/0 gauge wiring along with separately purchased copper lugs (5/16' works perfectly) will be used to set up three 51.2 volt batteries in parallel to a 10,000 watt inverter. Nice thick wiring. Yes, it is aluminum encased in fine copper. Surprisingly flexible (not too much, however). I'll leave more information if it doesn't do the job, but pleased so far with quality for the money. Should carry the load just fine. Red casing is semi-translucent. Black is opaque.

Nice cable, very flexible and feels high quality. I've encountered cheap cable and it's always stiff. This insulation thick, durable, and very easy to strip. I ran 16' of both power and ground in my boat tonight and no voltage drop between battery and fuse panel.
