Reasonably sturdy. Suggest starting with part b side shelf bars. I've added an ikea shelf atop & beneath cover for storage of hats-usually soft (photo). Cover bottom ties detach easily (photo). Left off back footings caps to have rack lean into the wall (cali earthquake concern). SHELF HEIGHT-My big feet, mid-height shoes fit easily if end caps are switched-gain spacial height (photos). WIDTH-3 pairs fit if alternated (photo). Generally, shoe boxes fit better sideways versus front to back (photo). Overall good deal for $$ great for college bound shoe divas.
